To all ShowRoom Movie Lovers,
It is hard to believe that The ShowRoom opened in Asbury Park nearly two years ago. We appreciate the support many of you have shown us as we worked tirelessly to bring film back to Asbury Park after a 30-year hiatus. While we don’t have the glaring marquee and the neon lettering of today’s multiplexes, The ShowRoom does have the enthusiasm and appreciation for great film that we share with so many of you.
Modeled after the very first storefront movie theater in New Orleans, The ShowRoom has taken a page from history to restore film to its rightful place in Asbury Park. Relevant, thought-provoking, independently distributed films fill our schedule and bring movie fans to our home on Cookman Avenue from all over the tri-state area. We are proud to see people unexpectedly discovering the new Asbury Park and all it has to offer because they came to our theater for a currently released film that they couldn’t find anywhere else.
As we continue to bring independent films to Asbury Park, we are pleased to be one of many entertainment venues that contribute to the city’s cultural fabric. As part of our city’s evolution, some landmarks fall and some remain, and new venues emerge to help carry Asbury Park into the future. The ShowRoom prides itself on jump-starting a permanent film presence in the city and we intend to continue to expand the appreciation of independent film in the area. Our red carpet is always out for film fans looking for a memorable movie-going experience. We look forward to seeing you at The ShowRoom soon.
Michael Sodano and Nancy Sabino,
Co-Owners, The ShowRoom

In two short years, the art-house movie theater has brought film back to Asbury Park after a 30-year hiatus. The independently operated and programmed movie theater’s staple screenings and events have included:
· New Jersey Premieres of “Outrage” and “Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child”
· Sold-out BookFLX Event with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Diaz
· Co-Founding the Asbury Park IndieFest, as well as the APin3 short-film contest
· Saturday night Improv Comedy Jams
· Live, multi-media productions with local musicians and community members
Partners Michael Sodano and Nancy Sabino look forward to their third year of programming provocative and relevant entertainment for New Jersey and tri-state area audiences. They are available to comment on the ever-growing art-house movie movement, programming for the independent-minded moviegoer, and the importance of entertainment venues to the economic fabric of a city on the rebound.

The ShowRoom in Asbury Park has only one screen and 50 seats, but thanks to owners Mike Sodano and Nancy Sabino, it has become in just two years the favorite of NJM readers. A big part of that is the programming, all of it selected by the ownersimprov comedy, author signings, a variety of events and, of course, lots of cool indie flicks.
